# Overview of Payment Methods

The Payrix Pro platform supports a variety of payment methods, each with its own setup requirements and compliance considerations. With the ability to process both online and in-person transactions, merchants can build flexible, secure checkout experiences that align with their business model.

The following sections summarize the primary payment methods available by category.

## Cards

Merchants can accept major card brands for both [card‑not‑present](/v1/docs/card-not-present-payments) and [card‑present](/v1/docs/card-present-payments) transactions. Payrix Pro supports card-processing features such as tokenization, recurring payments, and Level 2 and Level 3 data (when applicable) to help lower interchange fees.

In addition to credit cards, merchants can process [PIN debit card payments](/v1/docs/pin-debit-card-payments), providing flexible payment options to their customers and potentially reducing processing costs.

Payrix Pro also supports cards associated with flexible spending accounts (FSAs) and health savings accounts (HSAs). These cards function like debit cards but are restricted to healthcare-related purchases. Eligible merchants can [accept FSA and HSA cards](/v1/docs/accept-fsa-and-hsa-cards) if they meet certain processing requirements.

## eChecks

Electronic checks (eChecks) enable merchants to accept payments by directly debiting a customer’s bank account. Customers can provide their bank account information, including their routing and account numbers, during checkout without using a physical check.

Merchants in the US can [process eCheck payments](/v1/docs/set-up-giact-echeck-verification) through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network for both single and recurring payments. Merchants in Canada can use the electronic funds transfer (EFT) protocol. The processing times for eCheck payments differ from card payments.

## Digital Wallets

Digital wallets enable customers to pay using their stored card information for a fast and secure checkout experience. You can enable [Apple Pay](/v1/docs/set-up-apple-pay) and [Google Pay](/v1/docs/enable-google-pay-for-web) in Payrix Pro so that merchants can accept these forms of payment on their websites or apps.

A PayFac-as-a-service platform. Software companies can act as payment facilitators without taking on the associated risks, compliance burdens, and investment.

The process of replacing sensitive payment method information, such as card numbers and checking account numbers, with a unique Payrix Pro platform token to enhance security for transactions and streamline future customer purchases or recurring payments.

The most detailed level of transaction data. It essentially provides full invoice-level information, including all Level 2 data and line-item details such as item description, product code or SKU, quantity purchased, unit price, discount amount, shipping or freight amount, and duty amount.

Level 3 processing provides the lowest possible interchange rates for commercial card transactions, particularly for business-to-business (B2B), corporate purchasing, and government procurement cards.

A secure electronic network in the United States that processes electronic funds transfers (EFTs) between banks. It facilitates automatic debits and credits to Payrix Pro merchant checking and savings accounts. The networks also supports one-time direct payments from customer bank accounts, known as eChecks.

The method by which funds for an electronic payment transaction move from a card issuer to a merchant or other point of sale or service.
