Tap to Pay on iPhone enables merchants using Payrix Pro and the triPOS Mobile iOS SDK to accept EMV contactless card and Near Field Communication (NFC) wallet payments on supported iPhones without additional card-reading hardware.
The triPOS Mobile iOS SDK uses uses Apple’s developer framework and built-in iPhone NFC capabilities to support Tap to Pay on iPhone transactions through Express in iOS point of sale (POS) apps. Tap to Pay on iPhone is a software POS (softPOS) solution for commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) devices that complies with the PCI Mobile Payments on COTS (MPoC) framework.
This article explains how to review setup requirements, configure optional softPOS fees, add merchant devices, and review Tap to Pay on iPhone transactions.

Supported Payment Types
Tap to Pay on iPhone supports the following payment types:
EMV contactless card payments
Digital wallet payments, including Apple Pay
Manually entered card payments
Visa and Visa Electron
Mastercard
American Express
Discover
Payments requiring PIN entry
Branded debit cards processed as credit or debit.
Certain debit networks, including:
US Common Debit networks
Other regional debit networks
Debit cards without a brand logo
Unsupported payment types
Tap to Pay on iPhone does not support the following payment types:
EMV chip insert payments
Magnetic stripe payments
JCB
UnionPay
Some PIN-based debit transactions
Some regional debit network transactions
Unbranded debit cards
Configure SoftPOS Fees
You can apply a softPOS authorization fee to Tap to Pay on iPhone transactions. Configure a fee rule to limit the fee to softPOS iOS transactions. SoftPOS fees are assessed after transaction processing and included in the next settlement batch.
To create a softPOS authorization fee:
Access the group or merchant’s profile page:
Select Groups or Merchants under Management in the main side bar.
Select the group or merchant to configure.
Select Fees from the page side bar.
Click Add Fees.
Select Auth from the When to trigger a fee? dropdown menu.
Select Percentage from the How much is the fee? dropdown menu.
Enter 100.00 in the Amount.
Click Advanced Options.
Select SoftPOS Flat Tran Fee from the Conditional Rules dropdown menu.
Select SoftPOS iOS Flat Tran Fee from the revealed value dropdown menu.
Click Add.
Add a SoftPOS Device
After a merchant installs your POS application on an iPhone, create a terminal in Payrix Pro to associate it with the merchant.
To add a Tap to Pay on iPhone device:
Select Merchants under Management in the main side bar.
Select the merchant to link the device to.
Select Terminals from the page side bar.
Click Add Terminal.
Select one of the following Type dropdown menu values based on your triPOS certification status:
VAR - Apple Tap to Pay: Use for sandbox certification.
VAR – Tap to Pay on iPhone: Use in production.
Select Active from the Status dropdown menu.
Select Host from the Auto Close dropdown menu.
Set Auto Close Time in 24-hour format (Central Time).
Enter a terminal name.
(Optional) Enter the iPhone’s serial number in the Serial field for easy identification.
Click Add.
Review Tap to Pay on iPhone Transactions
After processing a Tap to Pay on iPhone transaction, review Terminal Transactions to confirm it was processed as a softPOS transaction. The SoftPOS ID field indicates that the transaction was processed on a supported softPOS device. The SoftPOS Device Type field identifies the softPOS platform and shows Apple (Worldpay as PSP) for Tap to Pay on iPhone.
To identify Tap to Pay on iPhone transactions:
Select Payment History in the left navigation panel.
Click Terminal Transactions.
Select the relevant transaction.
Select Payment Details from the Terminal Transaction Details page menu.
Review the SoftPOS Device Type and SoftPOS ID fields.
