Use Case: Import Custom Payment Tokens from Another Platform
You can work with Payrix to import tokenized payment methods for your Merchant’s customers from a pre-existing payments processor as part of your migration process. This time-saving step can help you transition quickly from another payment platform to Payrix as a seamless experience for your Merchants and their customers. This tutorial will walk you through the steps to perform the secure, one-time migration of your Merchants' customer payment tokens.

Prerequisites
Prerequisites:
You must have a fully boarded Payrix account to perform any of the actions described in the use case guides.
You must have the legal authority within your organization to initiate the transfer.
The entity level(s) for each of your existing tokens (user or merchant).
An encrypted SFTP server to facilitate token files transfers by you or your existing processor.

Warning: Token migration requires coordination with the existing processor and Payrix operational teams. This process cannot be performed independently.

Tip: You will be notified once the import has been completed. At that time you can request GET /tokens
for the existing processor tokens to determine the new equivalent Payrix Token IDs.
Tip: Request a copy of Payrix’s most current Attestation of Compliance (“AOC”) and/or Report on Compliance (“ROC”) from your relationship manager before beginning the process to streamline the process of legal verification from your existing processor.

Importing Existing Tokens
1. Submit a Token Transfer Request
Submit a formal request to extract and transfer your existing tokens to Payrix.
2. Map the Token Data
Once your tokens have been successfully submitted from your existing processor to Payrix, Payrix will import and map each token to a new Payrix Token ID & Customer ID with associated customer information and related custom field data.
3. Link Tokens to their Associated Merchants
Step 1: Review your newly exported tokens, assigning them to their respective Merchants with the following information:

Merchant ID | The Payrix Merchant ID for the associated Merchant. |
User Login ID | The Payrix User ID determining whether the account is a Referrer or Merchant |

File | The existing Token file, attached or linked from a Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) server. |
Step 2: Submit a request to your Payrix representative to import the newly exported tokens, assigning them to their respective Merchants collected information above.
Result: You have now successfully migrated your Merchants' customer payment tokens. These tokens will now be available for use as saved payment methods for customers, receiving new Payrix-generated IDs for each Token and Customer respectively, and then each is assigned to their associated Merchants.
