You can process payments for existing customers in the Portal using a previously saved tokenized payment method (known as a token). This approach is one of multiple payment acceptance options through the platform. Using payment tokens makes payment processing more streamlined and secure. If you’re using the Create Payment page, you can even enter Level 2 and Level 3 information for better credit card interchange rates for transaction processing. This article shows you how to process a payment using a saved customer payment token on the Create Payments page.
Prerequisites
Before attempting the following procedures, you must have an existing customer payment token saved in the portal to process the payment. To save a new token, see Tokenize a Payment Method.
Note
The Payrix Pro platform creates a customer record every time a token is generated. As a result, you do not need to create a new customer if you create a new token.
Process a Payment with Quick Charge Using a Token
Quick Charge enables you to quickly capture customer and payment information from the dashboard.
Note
Quick Charge cannot process Level 2 or 3 interchange data. As a result, its transactions cannot qualify for different interchange rates past Level 1.
Alternatively, the Create Payment page provides a way to accept payments and includes the option to enter Level 2 and 3 information.
To process a payment using a saved payment token on the Quick Charge tile:
Select Dashboard in the left navigation panel.
Enter the charge amount and customer contact information in the Quick Charge tile fields.
Select Sale from the charge type dropdown menu.
Select a saved payment method from the payment method dropdown menu.
Click Process Payment.
The charge is processed using the previously saved tokenized payment method (token). You will receive a payment confirmation email, and the payment appears in the table on the Payment History page.
Process a Payment with Create Payments Using a Token
To submit a payment using a saved tokenized payment method and optionally submit Level 2 or Level 3 interchange information:
Select Create Payment under Payments in the left navigation panel.
Enter the charge amount.
Select Sale from the Transaction Type dropdown menu.
You can optionally select Authorization Only to authorize and hold the requested total on the credit card. This differs from the Sale option, which processes the transaction and charges the customer at the time of processing.
Select a previously saved token from the Payment Method dropdown menu.
(Optional) Click the Customer Details dropdown arrow to enter optional customer information, including the customer’s mailing address, email address, and phone number.
(Optional) Submit Level 2 or 3 processing information:
Select Submit this transaction as LEVEL 2 PROCESSING.
Enter the Level 2 information in the fields that appear below the Customer Details section.
If you’re submitting the transaction for Level 3 processing, select Submit this transaction as LEVEL 3 PROCESSING and enter the Level 3 information in the additional fields that appear.
Click Process Payment.
The charge is processed using a payment token. You will receive a payment confirmation email, and the payment appears in the table on the Payment History page.
